Probus marks first year

Patricia Gill - Thursday, September 10, 2015
DENMARK River Probus Club celebrated its first birthday on September 3 with 56 members on the books and a year of fun behind it.
The club, Denmark’s second Probus group, meets on the first Wednesday of the month at the Country Club.
Members have travelling far and wide in the regular club outings to the Banksia Farm at Mt Barker, Valley of Giants Tree Top Walk and Thurlby Herb Farm at Walpole.
Other outings have been to Discovery Bay, the National Anzac Centre and a cruise on the Kalgan River Queen, to name a few.
Speakers have included Agricultural Students of the Year Roxanne Mostert, Jane James talking about her medical service in Africa, Trevor Morse on teaching refugees on Christmas Island and Andrew Collins from ABC Radio.
The first birthday celebration included a lunch and birthday cake.
During the year there has been a change of management committee due to the financial year, and although some members have left town others have joined and made new friends.
Organisers look forward to a bright year ahead in the hope that the club grows, everyone helps each other, and they enjoy friendship, fellowship and fun.
